Adoption of the Recommendation on the Protection of Violence Against Women and Girls Facilitated by Technology
Council of Europe
O Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted an Recommendation on the protection of violence against women and girls facilitated by technology, where the “Technology-facilitated violence against women and girls“means any act of gender-based violence that is committed, aided, aggravated or amplified by means of or through technology and that has an impact on women or girls.
In this Recommendation, drawn up by its Steering Committee on the Rights of the Child (CDENF), the Council of Europe encourages Member States to apply it to all victims of technology-facilitated violence, paying particular attention to women and girls victims, in all their diversity, with a view to supporting them in ensuring accountability for the phenomenon, both through preventive action and in combating it.
Portugal also contributed to this CDENF Recommendation with the result of consultations in various sectoral areas, carried out as part of the national representation work in the Committee.
