CNPDPCJ launches new manual on FGM
As part of this day, the CNPDPCJ launches the new version of the Manual of Procedures: “Working Actively on the Prevention and Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation”, which is available at https://www.cnpdpcj.gov.pt/cnpdpcj2
“According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), more than 200 million girls and women worldwide have undergone Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). According to this organization, each year, more than three million are at risk of being subjected to this practice. By 2030, based on population growth forecasts, there will be 68 million girls and women at risk of some form of FGM.”
‘FGM causes damage, which is mostly irreversible, and has serious physical and psychological consequences for the victims, which last throughout their lives and can even lead to death.’
