Rights

Children's rights are an issue of great importance in all communities. Everyone should know them well so that they are respected and fulfilled. It is adults who have a responsibility to guarantee these rights to children so that everyone grows and develops with freedom, justice and equality.

In this section you will find references to the right to health, education and development, participation and the more specific rights of minorities, such as the migrant population (foreign children living in Portugal). You can also find some playful resources and educational games to have fun and learn.

Age assessment

If you have to take age assessment medical tests, you have rights that must be respected...This situation can happen when you arrive in a country and there are doubts about your age. For example, if you travel alone or alone and you don't have any ID documents to prove your age. Or if you're with an adult person who says he knows your age, but doesn't have any documents to prove he's responsible for you.

Proving your age is very important!

Because anyone under the age of 18 is considered a child and children have special rights.

In these brochures you will find all the information on age assessment in two versions: Portuguese and bilingual (English and French).

This is the year to fight child labour

There are children like you who, instead of going to school, are forced to work or who, after school, cannot play. There are 152 million worldwide and there are also cases in Portugal.

This is the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour. It was approved by the United Nations to draw attention to a problem affecting one in ten children worldwide and to demand that governments take action and make laws to eradicate it. The goal is to achieve this by 2025.
